6:30 pm - Carbon's first agility class of the year at 6:30 pm that went just a little long.  One of my other dogs was sick at home and had to take care of her and the mess.  Left not time to run after work.

I know I'm taking too many days off and my mileage is not where it should be -

Looks like I need some help with my Boston training plan.  Not sure exactly where I should be.  Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance!

Hello there...Long time, not type...

I'm not into blogging these days, as my running log is pretty detailed and I don't feel that I have much to say. I still read others for fun.

As for your BQ, try going to www.therunzone.com. Tom Schwartz aka Tinman is an exercise physiologist. I have been following his basic workout plans for several years, this year especially. If you go to the coach forum and ask for just basic advice, you will get it. He does coach runners, but through searches and random questions, you can probably put together a good training plan for yourself.

What I've learned:

2 big workouts per week (under Tinman articles on website). You've got to simulate the race, at times (i.e. fatigue). No workout heros though.

Very easy recovery runs

No days off, if you can

Long runs with MP running towards the end (build up to this)

I have no affiliation with the website or Tom. He was somewhat famous on www.letsrun.com because of his heated debates with other well-known coaches. He doesn't frequent that site much, but now has his own website.

Just being consistent and running a few more miles per week, for me, yielded big PRs in every distance this year!. I'm getting too old for the track stuff, but had to learn the hard way. Sasha even warned me of doing too much fast stuff.

Good luck!

Thanks, Mike! I will take a look at the training plans on that site over the weekend - got to get some focus. Hope your running has been going well!
