6:45 am - 5.8 miles, slow average pace, 10 minute miles.  Had to stop twice and walk because of stomach issues.

7:00 pm - 2.7 miles, with 4 sprints.  Felt better than this morning.

St. Jude Half Marathon - PR at 1:42:15.  Cold morning, in the 30s to start.  Kept a good pace for the first 8 miles, then felt a bit tired after one of the hills but recovered pretty well.  Hope to be able to do a 1:40 half in the future.

Afternoon 7 mile run.  Right knee feels a little sore in the IT band area but the run felt good.

Right knee still somewhat sore.  Rest day but worked on weights - legs and upper body.  Crunches for core strength.

7 pm - raining hard here all day.  Still raining hard at some points in this run, sloshing through standing water on some streets because the ground is now saturated.  Felt a little tired, so kept the pace moderate.

5:40 pm - cold and windy 7.3 mile loop past town hall, out to Poplar, past the newly-closed car dealership, onto Market Blvd, back through Oaks neighborhood.  Right IT band felt pretty tight.

Rest day.  Took Jacob to breakfast, got the (real) Christmas tree at Home Depot.  He was pretty excited and helped put it up and decorate it at home.

Another rest day - freezing rain, windy and 19 degree wind chill.   Worked on upper body and leg weights and crunches instead of running.

12:30 pm - ran at lunchtime during the workday to avoid the cold and dark.  33 degrees, warmer than originally forecast.  Ran the campus lake trail and then out onto the new Collierville greenway trail near Nonconnah Creek.  Some co-workers had told me about it, but this is the first time I've been on it.   Very nice.  I'll do this route again.  The run and shower took about an hour and a half.  Will have to come in to work early if I want to run 7 miles at lunchtime.

7 pm - warm evening, 65 degrees, misty rain.  Started out to do the 7-mile Cordova out-and-back, but it became the 6.5-mile loop.  Felt very tired tonight.

No time to run at all today - too many holiday activities, and Memphis hosted Syracuse in college basketball at the FedEx forum at 5 pm - couldn't miss this game, and it is probably the only one I'll go to this season.  Having lived in Syracuse for 15 years, I was cheering for the Orangmen.  They beat the Tigers 72 - 65.  Go Orange!

2:30 pm - Merry Christmas everyone!  I think this is the longest break I have taken from running in the past year - a sinus infection combined with some really nasty weather has kept me off the road for the past 5 days.  Antibiotics are a wonderful thing, and today is my first day back - 7.2 miles in Cordova with some nice hills thrown in.

Right IT band and knee were sore afterward.  The run felt pretty good, and I took it slow.
