7 am - Road race series 5 miler in Bartlett.  Just after the start, the car keys popped out of the back pocket of my shorts, and I had to circle back around to pick them up.  They fell into two pieces, and I carried them by hand the rest of the race but was able to put the two pieces together by mile 1.5, so it was easier to carry, but was a little sweaty.  The course winds through a neighborhood, with lots of turns and several small to moderate hills, then enters a municipal park at the end.  You can see the finish line on the other side of the park as you run around the baseball fields, which is very motivating and made me run faster at the end.  Overall I was happy with my time, which is from my watch - official results are not yet posted.

Great job!! I am so glad you HEARD your keys fall, that could have been disastrous!

Thanks, Kelli. Yes, it was a good thing they came apart - otherwise, I might not have heard them. It happened just as I was running past the race photographer, who was nice enough to say he would get them, but I was glad to pick them up and keep them with me.
